Looking for a fun, easy, and budget-friendly way to celebrate the New Year with your toddler? This DIY fireworks painting craft is perfect! Using materials you likely already have at home, you and your little one can create a colorful masterpiece to welcome the new year.

What You’ll Need

• toilet paper rolls

• Scissors

• Neon paint (or any paint you have)

• Black construction paper

• Glitter

How to make the fireworks

1. Prep the Toilet Paper Rolls

Take your toilet paper rolls and cut slits all around one end, about halfway up the roll. Bend the flaps outward to create a starburst shape. Repeat with the other rolls.

2. Dip and Stamp

Pour your paint onto a flat surface, like a paper plate. Dip the cut end of a toilet paper roll into the paint, making sure the flaps are well-coated.

3. Create Your Fireworks

Press the painted end onto black construction paper to create a firework pattern. Repeat this step with two more colors to layer your fireworks for a vibrant look.

4. Add Sparkle

While the paint is still wet, sprinkle a little glitter over the fireworks for a festive touch.

This craft is toddler-friendly! My son loved dipping the rolls into paint and stamping them onto the paper. It’s a great way to encourage creativity and celebrate together.

Save Those Toilet Paper Rolls!

You’ll want to start saving all your toilet paper and paper towel rolls. These versatile materials are perfect for so many fun, budget-friendly crafts and activities I’ll be sharing!
