Looking for a simple yet super fun Valentine’s Day activity for your little one? Enter bubble foam! This was such an easy setup, and my toddler, had an absolute blast playing with it. The best part? It kept him entertained for a solid 40 minutes (which, in toddler time, is basically a lifetime).

How to Make Bubble Foam

Bubble foam is ridiculously easy to whip up—all you need are two ingredients: soap and water. The magic happens when you blend it into a thick, fluffy foam. Here’s the basic ratio:

2 parts water

1 part soap (bath soap or dish soap both work!)

For a small batch, you can use:

• ¼ cup water

• 2 tablespoons soap

Or, if you want a bigger batch (highly recommend because toddlers love mess), try:

• ½ cup water

• ¼ cup soap

Mixing the Bubble Foam

You can mix this a few different ways, depending on what you have on hand:

Blender: The fastest way to get a thick, frothy foam.

Hand mixer: Works just as well, but it takes a little longer.

Milk frother (or coffee frother): This is what I used because it was the easiest option. It took a little longer, but it worked perfectly!

Just blend until you get a big, fluffy pile of foam. For Valentine’s Day, I made pink and white foam by adding a tiny drop of red food coloring to half of the batch. You could also use kid-safe bath color drops.

Setting Up the Valentine’s Day Bubble Foam

Since my toddler is only 18 months, we kept the activity simple. Instead of focusing on letters or matching, I turned it into a little treasure hunt using:

Valentine’s Day rubber ducks (because festive ducks are always a win)

Heart-shaped Mardi Gras beads for some fun textures

A scoop and two containers for transferring bubbles or collecting treasures

I dumped everything into a bin of bubble foam and let him explore. And let me tell you—he loved it! He spent so much time pulling the necklaces out, putting them back in, and digging through the foam to find his ducks.

Why This Activity Is Awesome

Super easy to set up – Just a few minutes of blending, and you’re good to go!

Great for sensory play – The fluffy foam, slippery beads, and smooth ducks all add different textures.

Encourages fine motor skills – Scooping, grabbing, and pulling objects out of the foam all help with hand coordination.

Open-ended play – Kids can dig, pour, scoop, or just have fun squishing the bubbles!

If you have an older toddler or preschooler, you could add more challenges like matching colors, counting ducks, or sorting beads.

Clean-Up Tips

Bubble foam is actually one of the easiest messy activities to clean up. Since it’s made with soap, it basically cleans itself! Just dump the foam, rinse out the bin, and wipe up any leftover bubbles. If you use bath soap, you can even do this activity in the bathtub for an even easier cleanup.

I used a waterproof play mat, to make clean up easier and no messes on the floor!

The dye washed out with no issue!

Final Thoughts

This Valentine’s Day Bubble Foam was such a hit! It was simple, cheap, and kept my toddler engaged for a long time. Plus, it’s a great way to bring some festive fun into your day without needing tons of supplies.

If you try this activity, let me know how it goes! I’d love to hear what fun items your little one finds in the foam.

Happy Valentine’s Day and happy playing! ❤️
